Greetings…
As I’m sure you’ve realized, my name is Michael Metzger. I’m 26 years young and reside in beautiful NW Ohio. Before making this anymore like an introduction on the first day of a college class, I’m going to skip a lot of my life and get to the important parts!
Education and goals…
I attended Bowling Green State University for my undergraduate degree in Visual Communication Technology (‘06) and graduate degree in Career and Technology Education (‘09). Both degrees gave me the insight needed to increase my passions of being a designer, leader, and project manager. Going through college, I found myself creating three possible career goals: become a creative director for an advertising firm, start a business focused on brand advertising, design, and development, and/or to start my own screen printing company. These are still my goals today, and I have a long-term plan to make them happen together as one business.
Career history…
Currently I do freelance work whenever possible, but am also employed in the screen printing and vinyl sign industry at a small family-owned company in Whitehouse, OH. Before that, I held a graduate teaching assistantship at BGSU assisting in the Intro to Visual Communication Technology, Intro to Print Media, and Advanced Print Media classes. I’ve also worked as a screen printer and designer for two other companies, was an administrative graduate assistant for BGSU Student Publications, held four editorial positions and two non-editorial positions for BGSU’s campus newspaper, volunteered for BGSU’s athletic communications department doing design work, and worked as a designer and videographer for a local Wendy’s franchise. As a firm believer that everyone needs to do some manual labor in their life, I’ve also had non-design related jobs working for BGSU’s grounds & recycling department, my hometown’s street and grounds department, and also my hometown’s school system as an assistant custodian.
Other random facts…
Some of my other hobbies are listening to music, playing bass guitar, watching and playing basketball, hitting the links, watching college sports, bass fishing, and reading books about business, advertising, and/or entrepreneurship. I am also quite fond of quotes, colognes, the countryside, road trips, anything having to do with John Deere and Chevrolet, pretty much anything outdoor work related, Italian food, and good ol’ American BBQ!
